This article is sad to read. We are very lucky to have California weather. We complain so much about the weather when we are so lucky. I don't understand how so many people still choose to live there after all the weather problems there is. I know I wouldn't live there. I think every state should pitch in food or money or have an organization to help them. I mean if it wasn't for doing this blog I would of never heard of this problem. It's very sad to me. I put myself in their shoes and just knowing that all my stuff I love being destroyed or losing the people I love. This article is interesting and I think everyone should take the time to read it and really put a thought in to it.

The article, "On the 5th day of Fay, Clean Up Begins in Fld" this article is about how a tropical hurricane doesn't have to hit in order for there to be a damaged in Florida. Heavy rain hit Florida causing many floods and electricity to go out. People were stuck in their flooded houses for days. People died while in traffic and others while surfing. All the rivers and oceans rise high and there was 25 feet of rain in the streets. but after a few days people are happy to see results. They are left with mud and muck. There has been a lot of damaged done and it will take time.

its crazy to know that the us is doing so bad right now first it was the gas prices blowing up... most students work just for gas money... last year around this tym we thought that the gas prices where off the charts with it being at $3+ now gas prices have gone up and down but it doesnt seem like its going to get better. people are losing jobs bc buisnesses are going down bc of inflation and the cost of things. its good to know that they are trying to get this under control. $20.00 now is what $5.00 was to us three yrs ago. its a shame that people are losing homes and jobs. what are we going to do??

We are in a struggle with our economy. When the Euro was introduced it did not help much either. Now the Euro is stronger than the dollar. I want to major in International Bussiness, and doing business now, is the perfect time since the dollar is low. Wall Street is struggling and the inflation and cost of gas is pretty ridiculous. Slowly the dollar is growing but we are still struggling. I am just hoping the inflation does not get out of hand.
Average price of gas falls below $ 4
The gas continuen to fall after and constant increase of fourteen weeks. The price has been dropping 48 cents in past months. The country hit the milestone during the memorial day holiday weekend in the late may. I think it benegits to all of us that the gas prices are dropping.i fell good because the gas is cheaper.my concern is that gas prices can maintain in a affortable economic price. In my opinion it is a good article becausei keeps us inform how the gas issue is progressing.
U.S., Iraq in troop pullout deal...
The Irac and U.S.A., goverments are analyzing a deal in which by next June, U.S. troops will be pull out of the major Irac cities. In December 2011, will be the time line of all the US troops to leave the Irac territories. While this agreement is analized by the U.S, administration and the Irac goverment, it won't be a concrete deal until both governments agree with everything written in the document. In the agreement still ideas in which the Iraqui goverment is not agree with. The Democrat candidate Barrack Obama wants the U.S., troops to be move to Afghanistan in his taking office. While the Republican Candidate, John McCain is opposed to the widrawall of U.S. troops out of Irac, until theres a civilians security.
In my opinion, I think that bringing troops home will be good, because it will help the help to the actual economic crisis. It would keep the money in the country taking care of the neccesities that the country needs. Also it would bring families together, that have been separated for long terms. I think the U.S.A government should worry right now for its economy, then later for the external worries.

Harvard reclaims top spot in latest US News list
The article i read was about Harvard University. It is ranked number one in the U.S. News, and World Report College Ranking. This is the first time in 12 years that Harvard is ranke number one. For the last eight years Prenston and Harvared shared the number one spot, but now Prenston is at number two. Yale takes the number three spot, and MIT and Stanford tie at number four. One of the ways Harvard got ahead of Prenston was beacuse Harvard moved ahead on avrage class size
I thougth this article was interesting because of the way they chose one school is better than the other. Just the fact that Harvard had a better percentage of class size made it the number one school in the U.S. I think all of theses are great schools. I honestly don't think it matters what number a school is ranked. I think everyone has their own opinion on what school they feel is best for them. It would be cool to go to one of theses top schools, but i feel as long as I get a good education it dosen't matter weather I go to Harvard or not.
Harvard reclaims top spot in latest US News list
First time in 12 years Harvard University is rated #1. The faculty is pleased, but the admissions officers of the campus have said that the students who attend Harvard should choose it to support there needs and not choose it for its high placement. Harvard rose to where they stand by having a higher percentage of students in classes then before. Also rated by how good the counselors and what magazine editors have to say as well as surveys the school and students and respondents take. A big theme of some colleges including Harvard is Environment. Green ratings are what they are calling this new theme at colleges.
In my opinion I believe that its really nice to hear that your school is #1. I don’t think this matter is necessarily very important to everyone but it may be a concern to some, but definitely not me. I think that the whole green ratings is a good way to go when it comes to everyone enjoying the fact that the environment should be healthy and green. Pretty interesting how the process works to become on the top and receive ratings on your surroundings and what not. This was a random but interesting topic about Harvard.

Threat sent to McCain Colorado office
Crystal Hernandez
This article contained some of the dangers of being in a campaign office. Unidentified white powder was found in the letters to McCain's campaign office. There was another letter sent to the campaign office with "threatening language" and rumors of it also containing white powder. The first offense was not hazardous. Test are still being run to try and figure out what type of substance it is. The second letter came from Arapahoe Detention Center.
My opinion on this article is that people should not be sending letters that contain danger. Trying to send letters to McCain through his campaign office was not a bright idea. You put other people in danger before you could get to McCain. If someone sent a letter with an unidentified white powder inside they are not going to run to McCain and show him!!! If they have a really bad problem with McCain they should just vote the other way. Hatred and violence will not solve anything. If the people who sent the letters put the return address are really stupid because that is a threat and they can get arrested for it. I don't think that the return address is correct, it is probably a set up by someone in the same are. A black mail is what i think the letters are, not to McCain, but to the names on the return address.

US , Iraq close in on a deal that could remove US troops from Iraqi cities by next June. On Thursday US pushed close on deal to " pull out " of Iraqi cities. The exit date for US troops is December 2011. Bush has long resisted a timetable for pulling out , under heavy pressure from a nation distressed by American deaths and the length of the war that started in 2003. But it has " lightened up " in the past few weeks. Obama quoted " wants all Us combat forces out of Iraq within 16 month of taking his office , saying that they are more needed in Afghanistan." McCain quoted " recent security improvements in Iraq show that decisions on the timing of further "pull outs" should be determined by circumstances on the ground rather than prearranged timetables."
My opinion on this subject is that they are finally pulling out of a death count war that has been going on for way to long. My feelings toward this subject are that this is good that they are "pulling out " of this ongoing war that has killed a lot of troops and torn families apart. My two questions about this war is why did we go over their terrorism or oil? Why are we still in war when are economy is going down. My main concern about this war is the life of these troops that have been lost , but also the economy because sense we have been in this war prices on all our stuff that we use everyday from gas to groceries have gone up in cost and that is not helping the nation sense it is going into debt. Finally my idea on what Obama and McCain are saying is that Obama has the best solution to the economies problem to pull us out of Iraq and get us out of debt.

Governor backs 1c rise in sales tax By:Grace
The Governor just announced to the public his ideal of raising sales taxes so that gas would stay the same price. I really thing that is unnecessary to do because it would have to be a permanent thing and then when gas prices rise again would that mean another cent towards sales taxes to keep gas prices balanced. There has to be another alternative than raising sales taxes, like gas was not enough to worry about, but to worry about the price of living in this beautiful state. Not to mention that plan is unstable and not very promising for that much of a result.

Summary about the article:
The articles I read was called Gators among those fleeing Fay's Florida deluge by Brian Skoloff Associated Press Writer. The news article was about the recent storm (Fay) in Florida. The areas were the storm hit has alligators in most counties which really frightened residents. There were over 18,000 calls about the alligators in several neighborhoods. There were also snakes and other numerous harmful creatures and residents were really worried about them getting hurt. Rain water went up to more then two feet of rain which restricted a few residents from coming out of their homes. There were two deaths during the storm one of the people who was killed was a visitor. Official’s estimated damage up to $14.6million dollars. This type of storm has not been seen since Hurricane Donna in 1960, according to Daniel Brown, a specialist at the National Hurricane Center. Fay is the fourth storm in recorded history to hit the Florida peninsula with tropical storm intensity three separate times.
What I think about the news article:
The article was mostly about the storm that hit the peninsula of Florida. If I were in Florida at the time of the storm I would be very frightened. The alligators, snakes, and creatures would make me be afraid of even coming out of my house. I would immediately try to flea if I knew that a storm was coming whether it’s a big storm or a little storm because it can get very dangerous in this case the storm hit three times and it resulted in deaths of people. The storm was a big disaster estimated to cost up to $14.6 million in repairs. The storm was a disaster and i wouldn't know what to do if i were caught in that situation.

Elda Melendez
The article "Gators among those fleeing Fay's deluge" is about how the residents are in danger. There has been alligators, snakes and other critters from swampsy areas that have been spotted at residents houses. Many of the residents have to stay at home because of the critters. The storm has dumped more than two feet of rain along parts of Florida. Fay is the fourth storm recorded in history to hit Florida. Fay has been responsible for at least 20 deaths in the Carribean and 2 in Florida.
My feelings about this article is that i feel sad for the residents living there because they cant even walk outside their door without seeing an alligator or snake. If someone does get hurt by an alligator or snake it would be hard to get help because many of the streets would be flooded. I think that they should try to help them before this gets worse.

Meghan McLeod: News Article Response 1
Obama decided on a running mate for his campaign. When the reporters found out that he made a decision, he would not tell them who it is going to be. He might not have informed the person he wantes to run with him through his campaign. That could be the reason why he will not say who it is going to be. He is playing with the press and giving them as little information as possible. He wants to text only certain supporters on who it is going to be and not make a public announcement.
In my opinion he is acting in little ways childish. He is making comments like "Wouldn't you like to know?" to a press reporter. If he makes childish comments like that, what kind of comments is he going to make if he becomes president. Because the people do want to know what his decisions are going to be, because in the end what he decides effects all of us. If he was not going to make a general announcement of who his running mate is going to be then he should not have made the comment until he was prepared to say who it truely was going to be.

The article I read was US, Iraq have draft to pull US troops out, in the article they were saying how Iraq and the United States have came to a preliminary agreement to take out American troops from Iraqi cities by next June, as in 2009. The Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met up with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari to talk about the troops withdraw. The war started in the year 2003 and it has been six years till then. The war never seems to end, and in fact it is making our economy worse by making bombs and missiles which come out of tax payers pockets. I really think, if they are going to pull troops out of Iraq they should do it slowly and not take everyone out at once, because it might cause a big commotion.
