I Grew Up in Sylmar

My name is Sheela DuMond and I grew up in Sylmar. I lived in a little house on Dyer St. It was a little street. Around our house, there were other little houses. On the hill there was a big park. Our house had two bedrooms and I slept in the same room with my brother. There was a big backyard with grape vines, a lemon tree, and an orange tree. One day I began to eat one of the grapes and it was sour. There was also a turtle sandbox and I played in it. While I was fooling around in our backyard a feral kitten was following me around and my mom adopted her and named her Sasha. I got stung by a wasp while I was catching it, but luckily, I didn’t have an allergic reaction. After my mom moved out and got divorced, our house caught on fire on Labor Day 1995. Our dad moved to a one-story house in West Hills and now I live in Ventura.

When I was a child, I was afraid of lightning. I remember that in a rainy summer day in the land of the sun, Mexico, to me it seemed like the end of the world. The whole sky turned dark gray and no sun light could go trough. At first, I started hearing weird noises coming from the sky, it sounded like if someone was closing a huge big door in the sky. After a little while the noises became louder and louder, and I ran to hide under my bed. Trough the window I could see the illumination of the lightning similar to a house light, where the light appears and disappear in just seconds. The horrifying moment came after the luminous show, when the strong sound from the sky came after the appearance of thee light. I didn't want to get out of under my bed, I felt safe there.

Snake

When I was a child I was afraid of snakes. One hot summer day in Napa valley 2005, my family and friends were having b day party. My cousin use to love animals and his special animal was the snake. The house where we were was really big, had a pool, tennis court, a big patio, and 5 rooms. My cousin use to live his snake in his room but that day. The snake wasn’t at his room my I was really scare because I don’t like snakes at all. We were at the pool when saw the snake around the pool I started screaming because I thought it was going to beat me. My whole family and friends were eating drinking. The snake is the worst animal you can have as a pet.!

When i was a little kid i was afraid of the dark. Every time i had to turn of the lights at night i would run and turn them of and run back to my bed. I would try not to step on the ground. i was scared that something under the bed was going to get me. It was dark and scary. Everything would look so different. one time i couldnt go to sleep because i would see snakes everywhere. There were other times my sister face would look so scary.

When I was a Child I was afraid of...

When I was a child i was afraid of the clown called It. He had scary teeth and a huge smile that seemed up to no good. It always horrified me because the teeth were full of blood. His eyes were red and huge. He would laugh loud enough that it still haunts me today. It ran in quickly after the ones he wanted to capture. The movie was too scary for me that i didn't finish it. To this day i still have not watched the movie.

When I was a child Iwas afraid of...

When I was 4 years old, I always rode my favorite big wheel out in my back yard every morning.
One morning I was riding my big wheel and I saw a orange butterfly flying around. The next thing you know the butterfly crashed in to my forehead, I thought it was attacking me. I left my bike and ran to the back door of the house. Ever since then I would run from butterflies. The White butterflies chase me the most.

When I Was a Child, I Was Afraid Of....

When I was a child, I was afraid of the movie The Leprechaun. Seeing this little person who ran super fast towards you with no hesitation was quite frightening. He had a face not even a mother could love. He was Hideous and unbearable to look at for a second. At the age of four, being about the same height of this creepy character was even scarier. My older brother always teasing me and being so cruel was standing on his knees in the kitchen. This was around the corner from the living room. He stood ever so quiet waiting to frighten me. As I turned the corner with no hesitation, scooting in a fast motion towards me with his eyes very big and his hands up in the air acting as claws was my brother. He said to me “I want my pot of gold”; an over used line from the scary movie. My eyes big and bold filled with tears as if someone was pouring buckets of water into them. My heart beating as fast as a rock bands drummer drumming. The fear of that moment and that frightening character is forever in my memories.

When I was a Child I was Nervous

On the first day when I arrived at elementary school, I began to get nervous. Those big buses made loud hiss-like noises known as air breaks when they park. I covered my ears so vigorously that the staff called my mother. My mom put cotton in my ears to reduce those scary noises. Now I am used to those scary noises because I am not afraid of them anymore.

When I was a youngin....

One night I decided to watch Scream, a horror movie that was meant for adults. I was only at a young and tender age of eight. Me not knowing any better on what I was getting myself into. Well the horrifying movie ended, and it was time for my bedtime. I panicked; I jumped into bed and layed there silently. My eyes bobbled around the dark room when the lights turned off. My imagination and brain took a hold of me. Imagining weird and stupid things in the dark. I would get cold sweats, Goosebumps, and the chills. I’d think that some monster is creeping thru my window, or my closet, or under my bed. I was so scared even if I could, I wouldn’t be able to scream. So finally, I got the courage to jump out of my bed and turn on the light. Seeing nothing was there I decided to leave the light on. I just fell asleep with the light on...

When I was a child I was afraid of the dark

When I was a child I was afraid of the dark. Every time I would walk into a dark room I would hurry to turn on a light. Instead of sleeping in the dark I would sleep with a night light. I remembered one time my family and I watched a scary movie called It which had a killer clown in it. When I would go to bed at night I would be scared thinking that the killer clown was hiding underneath my bed or in the dark spooky closet. There were nights were I could not fall asleep right away and I would lay there eyes open on my bed looking around to see if everything was safe. I looked to my doorway to see a dark empty hallway wondering if someone was on the other side of the wall. If I couldn't stop thinking about it then I would run to my moms room and sleep with her for the night. My mother would just tell me it's all in your head. Now a days I just close my door and go to bed. Scary movies don't get to me like they used to.

WhEn I wAs A cHiLd..

When I was a child I was afraid of many things but especially dogs.
Till this day I still have that fear. It all started my first day of school 1st grade walking to the school bus stop with my mom and my little brother in her arms. As we walked around the corner house there stood a dog with the biggest teeth I had ever seen looking right at us ready just jump and chase after us. Next thing u know the dog got out of the fence and charged towards us. I remember my mom telling me to stay still but my first reaction was to run away. As I saw the dogs going towards my mom and brother I ran and I all I could see was the dog trying to get my little brother and it did it got his pamper and my mom reacted by throwing her hot cafĂ© at him. The dog got really upset and when at me and he was able to bite my leg as I screamed my mom came running and the owner came out with a bat in his hands running towards his dog and got him off of me. With that accident I never got to show up to my first day of school because I was rushed to the emergency room and ever since that day I’m terrified of big dogs.

Past time

I remember when I was a kid me and my dad would go to the field and play baseball for hours. Every time we would go to the field I would forget about all my problems. He would always teach me new things in baseball. He would always try and make me better than I was. My dad would always tell me i was better than that when i would mess up on a ball hit to me. Then he would show me how to do it the it was suppose to be done. My dad would always show me how to place my hands on the bat to be a better hitter.

Michael Myers

One night my cousin and I where watching the halloween movie. I was always afraid of Michael Myers. He freeked me out because of his white mask and the song they would play on the movie. And I always had nightmares that I was running form him, and even though he was walking he would still catch me. So that night after we got done watching the movie I fell asleep. While I was sleeping my cousin fast forword the movie to the end where it played Michael's theme song. Right when i heard the song play i wok up all freeked out. So ever since then I haven't wached any of the new halloween movies ever again.

Gace Centeno

When I was a child I was scared of being alone in the dark. If I went any where in the dark, it would have to be with someone else or I would freak. One night, in a dark house I had to use the bathroom, but my body could not find the energy to get up. I finally got up, but as I search for the light switch I heard noises coming from outside. I switched the light on and ran through the hallway of darkness that lead to the bathroom. Crying the whole way down the hallway and back to my room where I felt safe because the light was on and all the noises left my head.

When I was a child...

When I was a child I was afraid of The Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. Every time we would go I would have nightmares afterward. The ride was slow and dark, full of water and felt like I would not have a way to escape if one of the pirates would come alive and attack me. Even when I would close my eyes to sleep, I would imagine as if the pirates would chase me round and round. When I went on that ride, I would hold on really tight to my parents, to make sure they won't leave me behind. I don’t know why I was so scared, I would look around and everyone next to me is enjoying the ride while I am scared out of my mind.

Meghan McLeod: Afraid of Scream

When I was a child I was afraid of the movie Scream. After I saw the movie I was afraid of the dark. If I wanted to get something from the kitchen at night I was scared that he would come and get me. So, I carried a big blue flash whenever I went into the kitchen. I would have to turn on all the lights and make sure he was not outside to get me. I walked backwards from room to room turning off lights as I went so Scream could not sneak up and get me. I always made sure I had the big blue flashlight so I could defend myself.

Elda Melendez

When i was a child i was afraid of the dark. I have two older brothers and they knew that i was scared of the dark. Once it would start to get dark i would always turn on the light of my room. There was this one day that i had just finished watching tv and i was walking to my room. I was so into the tv show that i had forgotten to turn on my light. When i started walking to my room i thought that i had heard laughter but I thought that everybody was already sleeping. When i stepped into my room my brothers popped out wearing halloween masks. I felt goosebumps going down the back of my neck. I started to scream and then before i knew it they had covered my mouth so that i would stop screaming. After all that had happened i still was scared so i had to sleep with my parents that night.

Chuckey

After my babysitter had picked me up from kindergarden we headed home. She was making me some chicken soup in the kitchen while i was playing in the living room. She comes over and turns on the TV. I hear screaming and laughing coming from the TV so I quickly turn my head from my barbies towards the TV. As I look at the TV I see the ugliest looking doll in the whole world. He had blue eyes, red hair, freckles, blue overalls, a red and white striped t-shirt. As I continue watching the TV, I see the doll talks, walks, and moves himself around all by himself. I get so scared and wondered if my dolls would also come to live like that.  But it only gets worse, the doll grabs a knife and begins killing and laughing. I quickly cover my eyes with my two hands and scream for my babysitter to turn it off. She laughs and says to me its just a movie. I continue screaming and crying until she finally turns it off. I was so scared. When my mother came home from work I told her what I had seen and asked her if my dolls would do that to me. My mother said no of course not. But i didn't care I told her I didn't want my dolls any more. ever since that day I've been afraid of dolls and most of all Child's Play Chuckey.

Narrative

When I was a small child there was one night we were without electricity. I tried to go to sleep and I heard a creepy noise that frightened me. I was all alone and could not see anything. I was so scared that my body started to shake and I tried to hide under my covers. I was sure that something bad was moving in the dark. When the noise grew louder I ran to my mom and dad’s room and I sleep between them the whole night. The noise turned out to be the heater that kept turning on and off over and over. I really felt silly.

Ever since i was a child by: Julie Estrada

I’ve been afraid of dogs ever since I was seven years old when my uncle brought a dog over to my house. The dog stayed in the backyard. Two days later my uncle too it back to his house. I visited one day and I saw the dog walking around the yard. I immediately got stiff and didn’t know what to do. The dog paced back and forth as if it were just watching me. The dog would start barking and I would get nervous and start sprinting to the house. The dog would start chasing me and I would run until I finally got home safely. Ever since I had that experience I have been afraid of dogs.

A Definition of Narrative Essay

Tropical Storm Fay drenches South U.S.

Tropical Storm Fay continues to spread throughout the South of the United States on Monday, bringing heavy rain and wind from Georgia to Louisiana. The citizens of the South are hoping Fay will quench their drought. The National Weather Service announced Fay would flood Northern Georgia on Monday and Tuesday with 3 to 5 inches of rain and up to eight inches in Northeast Georgia. Flash flood and tornadoes have been affecting Alabama. The storm's high wind and torrential rains might take a severe toll on Georgia's $128 million pecan crop. The tropical storm also devastated corn stalks throughout southern Georgia and blew some tobacco leaves off their stalks. The moist conditions can make cotton plants weaken to a disease called boll rot. In some areas of North Carolina, rain was needed.

It was shocking to me when I read about the crop damage. I was so depressed because Tropical Storm Fay has devastated crops throughout the South. I was also shock that Fay impacted the cotton crop. But it can also improve stream flows, pastures, and slightly raise the levels of major reservoirs. I hope it will end the drought in Georgia.

AP news feed

A suicide bomber blew himself up in the middle of a party to welcome home an Iraqi prisoner released from the U.S. He killed about 25 people said Iraqi officials. The U.S. military announced the arrest of an al-Qaida soldier in Iraq who supposedly planned the 2006 kidnapping of Jill Carroll. This was one of the biggest attacks against Iraq. The suicide attack happened inside one of the tents set up outside a house in the Abu Ghraib. They didn't know if the former prisoner was among the casualties. A woman who was wounded, but she didn't want to give her name for security reasons, but said she was preparing food behind the tents when the blast happened at about 9 p.m., knocking her and her three young children to the ground.

I believe that suicide bombers are just dumb. They think that killing themselves for a cause that they are going to heave. It is a sin to commet suicide. They ae not going to heaven, they are going to hell. I believe we should let the people of the middle east blow each other up if they want. It is their war, we should stay out of it until they bring us into it

101 US deaths this year in Afghanistan as Taliban turns into lethal fighting force

The U.S military suffered its 101st death this past week in Afghanistan. Last year the U.S military lost 111 soldiers claiming a world record. The soldier that died was 36 year old Sgt. 1st class David J. Todd Jr from Marrero, La. David died of gunshot wounds helping Afghan police of the northwest. "The U.S. is now losing the war against the Taliban," said Anthony Cordesman from the Washington based Center for Strategic and International Studies. They believe that they are going to need more solders out in Afghanistan to end this war we have over in the Middle East.

What is happening in Afghanistan is unacceptable. We need to start taking things more serious and sending more solders out there to help. Its sad that were 11 more death from setting another world record. I believe that if we get more soldiers out there the war would end a lot sooner and things will be done for good. It kinda scary that people are thinking we might lose this war against the Taliban. I think if we would of had more solders overseas then all of our solders would be home already.

Clean Up After Fay in Florida

The article, "On the 5th day of Fay, Clean Up Begins in Fld" this article is about how a tropical hurricane doesn't have to hit in order for there to be a damaged in Florida. Heavy rain hit Florida causing many floods and electricity to go out. People were stuck in their flooded houses for days. People died while in traffic and others while surfing. All the rivers and oceans rise high and there was 25 feet of rain in the streets. but after a few days people are happy to see results. They are left with mud and muck. There has been a lot of damaged done and it will take time.

This article is sad to read. We are very lucky to have California weather. We complain so much about the weather when we are so lucky. I don't understand how so many people still choose to live there after all the weather problems there is. I know I wouldn't live there. I think every state should pitch in food or money or have an organization to help them. I mean if it wasn't for doing this blog I would of never heard of this problem. It's very sad to me. I put myself in their shoes and just knowing that all my stuff I love being destroyed or losing the people I love. This article is interesting and I think everyone should take the time to read it and really put a thought in to it.

A Little About Me

Being brought to a beautiful salty world where the air is breezy and there are people from all over the world was one of my luckiest days
I have ridden the warm blue oceans
Living like royalty next to the calm warm ocean for a week is probably just like living in heaven
However, what do I know I might not even go to heaven after being a murderer of six cats from forcing Alka-Seltzer down their throats and throwing them over the fence and seeing their guts fly out hahaha how cool!! I mean how devastating
Just like moving to Ventura where I left my home, my friends i grew up with, and school.
When we were suppose to be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ my cousins and I were burning the carpet where all our presents were. Man, we almost had a sad Christmas.
But the day where my tears wouldn't stop coming down was when my toy dog died he was my first dog ever and I did not want to replace him
When I was a young girl or I should say younger while all the girls were interested in having a boyfriend I never saw interest in that I had a lot of guy friends but i just saw them as friends and when I least expected it I found the love of my life. I know it may sound cliche but I fell in love at first site! We just clicked automatically. But we are not an ordinary couple I am 3 years older than him. When I was a senior in high school he was a freshman. He turned 15 and I'm turning 18 this year and he is a great guy. Moreover, he is mature more than me probably haha but we have a great healthy relationship and we have been together for 6 months so far.
What I love to do is travel anywhere where there is a beach involved! So far, I have gone to Cabo San Lucas, San Jose Del Cabo, Loreto, La Paz, Ensenada, Rosarito, Santa Felipe, Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, and Mazatlan. This summer coming up, we plan as a family of course to take a cruiser to Acapulco.
Oh yes and how can I forget about my job. I work at Lands' End. This is my first job ever and so far I like it. I work with clothes so its pretty cool and I get commission for selling the brand. I love my job it made me get out of my box and learn new stuff had meet new people. The only part that sucks is that I get tempted to waste my check since I work at the mall.
My senior year was the best I ditched half the year. My friends and I went to Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor it was so much fun. Everyday when it was sunny we headed to the beach and we even bbq. I miss those relaxing days where we had nothing to do but have FUN

Response to AP news #2

A teenager who was only 12 at the time of his convicted murder is charged first degree murder for backing up his gang member buddies. He is now 14, and he is found guilty on Wednesday for the murder that happened in September 11, 2006, he killed San Chea which was 23 years of age at the time. The boy who had just entered the sixth grade did not pull the trigger, but he was convicted of murder under an "aiding-and-abetting" theory, which means he was involved in a conspiracy to kill by providing support to the shooter.

I think the teenager being so young, he should do a couple years in jail, because it is a crime for killing someone. They should not let him free because he is underage, but it makes other kids think that they can go around killing people and not get punishment for the crime they had made.

We are in a struggle with our economy. When the Euro was introduced it did not help much either. Now the Euro is stronger than the dollar. I want to major in International Bussiness, and doing business now, is the perfect time since the dollar is low. Wall Street is struggling and the inflation and cost of gas is pretty ridiculous. Slowly the dollar is growing but we are still struggling. I am just hoping the inflation does not get out of hand.

Narrative Essay

Narrative essays are telling a story.Narrative essays are told in a 1st person point of view, this helps get the reader into the story. Marrative essays often make their main point in the first sentence, but sometimes in the last sentence in the opening paragraph. narrative essay 1226

a narrative essay usually tells a story about it may be that the author it telling a story about something that happened in there past, about some person in there life or some thing they are observing at the moment. in a successfull essay u usually make a point about something. people usually write narrative essays when they want to tell a story. the steps of writing a narrative essay are, identifying the experience you want to write about, think of why that experience is important, taking time to look back on the experience and see ur self there again, then last make an outline and start your essay......

Francisco Bojorquez

The narrative essay is a writting in which u tell a story to someone, which give us the oportunity to write about ourselves. This kind of writting aloud us to writte experiences, feelings, point of views, etc., giving the reader the oportunity to experience a similar situation through listening.
The narrative essays also need to include plot, characters, settings, climax and conclusion. Those are elements that make a narrative essay clear and concrete, leading to the reader to understand each point remarked in the writting. People use the narrative essays to describe things, occasions, feeling and experiences through a detail sentences.
Narratives talk more about your thoughts and opinions
but can also include a third person ("he," "she," or "it").
Since a Narrative is basically writing about your thought and opinions,
it should be concrete and detailed. The details should be create
unified, forceful effect, a dominant impression
Narratives are more like stories, so should
include these conventions: a plot, including
setting and characters; a climax; and ending
Elements may include characters that bring the story
to life. Descriptions of all sorts and setting. Story line that
may or may not go in chronological order.
A narrative essay can be written for many reasons
but I came up with three of the basic reasons:
* to entertain the reader
* to inform the reader
* to persuade the reader

*It is better to make an incident for the reader then to just talk about the incident.
*It relates the times and dates and actions that took place. Pin pointed. Sequence.
*Include: Details, Observations of People, Places, & Events.
*It has Changes, Contrasts or Conflicts and also creates tension.
*It's your point of view on things.
*You write in first person which is "I", But it is okay to use 3rd person "He", "She", or "It".
*A normal story that most are used to is the plot, setting and characters; a climax; and an ending which is some what the format for a narrative essay.

Cody's Random Autobiography

I was born on the 7th day of the 7th month 18 long years ago. Two short years later my giant of a brother was given life. I lived in the state ran by a terminator almost all of my life. I have lived through many different events, and none like the other. One of thhose events is the day that Los Angeles fell in 1992. I watched two great towers fall and an even greater tyrant executed. I attended anacapa middle school which is where i met two people who changed my life forever. We are still great friends today. I attended buena high school where i met many new friends. I played football for 6 years where i met some great coaches including the late JD Probasco who i will mis dearly. My mother and I don't get along all the time but i know that she loves me a lot. I respect my father for facing his problems head on and is a better man because of it. My brother, an Adonis among buena football, is my little 6'5 best friend. I've only been to one funeral, but it was the hardest thing that I have ever done to see my great grandfather, who I respected the most in my life, one day and then the next he is gone. It is hard for me to choose between friends and family because my friends are so close to me that they are like family. Soon i will attending my second funeral and it will extremly hard. I am a strongly opinionated person. People dont really like that but thats just the way i am. I listen to any kind of music that has a good beat. If it is rap, rock, country, pop, or even techono it doesn't matter to me as long as the beat is good. I didn't have a job till early 2008. There are still many years to go, what's next.

Narrative essays are defined as telling a true story. Narrative essays can be based on your own experience, someone else's experiences explained in your own words, and it can be past or present. A narrative essay should be telling a story to the reader and has to have a point or lesson learned to the story.

When writing a narrative essay you should think about what you want your story to be about. Also, think about why your story is significant enough for you to share the experience. You would need to create an outline of basic parts that would be in your narrative essay. The first paragraph of your essay should have the communication and significance of your experience.

Crystal's Def. of a Narrative essay!

A Narrative essay is an essay told to prove a point from someones point of view. It is a very detailed and can have dialogue just like a story. You need to expand your details and be very descriptive about what your story contains. A narrative essay can also be written about experiences in your own life. If I were to write a story based on one of my soccer games i would write about the rush that i get running down the filed against the opposing team. I would be able to write about how I felt at the moment when the referee called the whistle to a bad call on my offense. On the other side if the opposing team were to write a narrative essay as well they would talk about the referee making a great call on me. On a narrative essay there is always more one side of a story.

Average price of gas falls below $ 4

The gas continuen to fall after and constant increase of fourteen weeks. The price has been dropping 48 cents in past months. The country hit the milestone during the memorial day holiday weekend in the late may. I think it benegits to all of us that the gas prices are dropping.i fell good because the gas is cheaper.my concern is that gas prices can maintain in a affortable economic price. In my opinion it is a good article becausei keeps us inform how the gas issue is progressing.

U.S., Iraq in troop pullout deal...

The Irac and U.S.A., goverments are analyzing a deal in which by next June, U.S. troops will be pull out of the major Irac cities. In December 2011, will be the time line of all the US troops to leave the Irac territories. While this agreement is analized by the U.S, administration and the Irac goverment, it won't be a concrete deal until both governments agree with everything written in the document. In the agreement still ideas in which the Iraqui goverment is not agree with. The Democrat candidate Barrack Obama wants the U.S., troops to be move to Afghanistan in his taking office. While the Republican Candidate, John McCain is opposed to the widrawall of U.S. troops out of Irac, until theres a civilians security.

In my opinion, I think that bringing troops home will be good, because it will help the help to the actual economic crisis. It would keep the money in the country taking care of the neccesities that the country needs. Also it would bring families together, that have been separated for long terms. I think the U.S.A government should worry right now for its economy, then later for the external worries.

Anabels response to ap news #1

The news article that i read was about Obama and how he choose his running mate. But he has not anounced who it is. All he says is that he has chosen but he doesnt say anything else. he said that he was going to say who its was through a txt message. when they interview him all he says is "wouldnt u like to know".
What i think about this is that he should announce it because it might change peoples mind on who they vote for. Also people want to know f the person he chose is right for the job. i dont see whats the big secret people are going to find out so he should just tell us now.

Harvard reclaims top spot in latest US News list

The article i read was about Harvard University. It is ranked number one in the U.S. News, and World Report College Ranking. This is the first time in 12 years that Harvard is ranke number one. For the last eight years Prenston and Harvared shared the number one spot, but now Prenston is at number two. Yale takes the number three spot, and MIT and Stanford tie at number four. One of the ways Harvard got ahead of Prenston was beacuse Harvard moved ahead on avrage class size
I thougth this article was interesting because of the way they chose one school is better than the other. Just the fact that Harvard had a better percentage of class size made it the number one school in the U.S. I think all of theses are great schools. I honestly don't think it matters what number a school is ranked. I think everyone has their own opinion on what school they feel is best for them. It would be cool to go to one of theses top schools, but i feel as long as I get a good education it dosen't matter weather I go to Harvard or not.

Oil holds above $121 on tension with Russia

Oil prices held above $121 a barrel Friday in Asia after jumping more than $5 dollars overnight as investors. The crude for the month of October delivery was 17 cents at 121.35 a barrel in the electronic trading in New York Mercantile Exchange by midday in Singapore. The U.S and Poland signed a deal Wednesday to place a U.S missile defense base just 115 miles from Russia. The U.S secretary of state didn't accepted any suggestion about the missile of defense, so Poland threated Russia. Washington said the base would defend the U.S. Europe also threated the long distance missiles from Iran. Russia was starting to get ready for any attacks; digging trenches and setting up mortars. the U.S senator he wanted to see Russia to get kicked out of the Group of Eight for awhile and denied their entry into the world trade Organization as punishment for their actions in Georgia. there is an oil pipe line throughout the center of Georgia from Baku in Azerbaijan to Supsa on Georgia's Black Sea Coast. The oil line which has the capacity to pump up too 150,000 barrels a day.

my opinion on this article is even though gas prices are going up its because of our president because he depended on other countries. The other countries are going to take advantage from the U.S. fro not having the oil that we need. For Russia to threaten any other country it would be the U.S , cause why would the be threatening Georgia. Even though Georgia has the oil line.

First time in 12 years Harvard University is rated #1. The faculty is pleased, but the admissions officers of the campus have said that the students who attend Harvard should choose it to support there needs and not choose it for its high placement. Harvard rose to where they stand by having a higher percentage of students in classes then before. Also rated by how good the counselors and what magazine editors have to say as well as surveys the school and students and respondents take. A big theme of some colleges including Harvard is Environment. Green ratings are what they are calling this new theme at colleges.

In my opinion I believe that its really nice to hear that your school is #1. I don’t think this matter is necessarily very important to everyone but it may be a concern to some, but definitely not me. I think that the whole green ratings is a good way to go when it comes to everyone enjoying the fact that the environment should be healthy and green. Pretty interesting how the process works to become on the top and receive ratings on your surroundings and what not. This was a random but interesting topic about Harvard.

Threat sent to McCain Colorado office

Crystal Hernandez
This article contained some of the dangers of being in a campaign office. Unidentified white powder was found in the letters to McCain's campaign office. There was another letter sent to the campaign office with "threatening language" and rumors of it also containing white powder. The first offense was not hazardous. Test are still being run to try and figure out what type of substance it is. The second letter came from Arapahoe Detention Center.
My opinion on this article is that people should not be sending letters that contain danger. Trying to send letters to McCain through his campaign office was not a bright idea. You put other people in danger before you could get to McCain. If someone sent a letter with an unidentified white powder inside they are not going to run to McCain and show him!!! If they have a really bad problem with McCain they should just vote the other way. Hatred and violence will not solve anything. If the people who sent the letters put the return address are really stupid because that is a threat and they can get arrested for it. I don't think that the return address is correct, it is probably a set up by someone in the same are. A black mail is what i think the letters are, not to McCain, but to the names on the return address.

Response to AP news

US , Iraq close in on a deal that could remove US troops from Iraqi cities by next June. On Thursday US pushed close on deal to " pull out " of Iraqi cities. The exit date for US troops is December 2011. Bush has long resisted a timetable for pulling out , under heavy pressure from a nation distressed by American deaths and the length of the war that started in 2003. But it has " lightened up " in the past few weeks. Obama quoted " wants all Us combat forces out of Iraq within 16 month of taking his office , saying that they are more needed in Afghanistan." McCain quoted " recent security improvements in Iraq show that decisions on the timing of further "pull outs" should be determined by circumstances on the ground rather than prearranged timetables."

My opinion on this subject is that they are finally pulling out of a death count war that has been going on for way to long. My feelings toward this subject are that this is good that they are "pulling out " of this ongoing war that has killed a lot of troops and torn families apart. My two questions about this war is why did we go over their terrorism or oil? Why are we still in war when are economy is going down. My main concern about this war is the life of these troops that have been lost , but also the economy because sense we have been in this war prices on all our stuff that we use everyday from gas to groceries have gone up in cost and that is not helping the nation sense it is going into debt. Finally my idea on what Obama and McCain are saying is that Obama has the best solution to the economies problem to pull us out of Iraq and get us out of debt.

Oil jumps $5 on US-Russia tensions, sliding dollar

The article I read wad about the high prices up to $5 a barrel this thrust day. Oil washers said the market's sudden reaction to the standoff reflecting a growing acknowledgment of Russia bear-like influence over world energy supplies. The Russian have show evidence that they're willing to cut off energy supplies to advance their aims. Russia is the world's second largest oil exporter after Saudi Arabia. U.S energy consultancy Camerin, Wanover noted in it's daily market report that some members of the oil group were ''terrified of allowing Western countries to build any kind of cushion for the unexpected. I think, it's a big problem because we all need oil is one of the resources we all need and we all know if gas goes up most thing will also. I think that it is a scary thing with the oil and how much we all depend on.

Governor backs 1c rise in sales tax By:Grace

The Governor just announced to the public his ideal of raising sales taxes so that gas would stay the same price. I really thing that is unnecessary to do because it would have to be a permanent thing and then when gas prices rise again would that mean another cent towards sales taxes to keep gas prices balanced. There has to be another alternative than raising sales taxes, like gas was not enough to worry about, but to worry about the price of living in this beautiful state. Not to mention that plan is unstable and not very promising for that much of a result.

Random Auto-Bio

Summer struck and I came to be. Mom and dad not ready for the new addition but grew to love me as I grew. A purple dinosaur was what entertained me, up until a group of teenagers dressed in different color tights, distracted me from my attention. Two seasons later, I became a sibling to a little girl. Since I had a little sister to play with, it was not until seven years later my mom and dad wanted us to have a baby brother to play with. I had my brother and sister through the worst of times, which came so fast time, could not contain it. Though the best time we have had, was when we saw new people while traveling.

Growing up was not hard to do but took time and little effort. Maturity is one that the majority has difficulty perfecting, and I fall in that category. Maturity takes time and effort and wanting to make a change in your attitude and in the way you look at things.

People telling you your to small to lead a nation, but too big to get on rides. Yes, I have what is called a weight problem but I’m not the only one. I have been use to being called “fat” or “chubby,” since I was in the eighth grade, though I don’t get it as often as I use to, which is good. My diet contains mostly Mexican food which is real fatty if you eat more than one serving, which I’m guilty of, but getting better at that.
The best way I can describe myself in a word is “incomplete,” for now. I feel as though I am not finished with what I am made to do for the world and therefore have time to perfect myself in different areas in my life. Also not sure of what it is I am suppose to do for the world but have faith that one day I will be needed.

Response to AP news, by Julie Estrada

Summary about the article:
The articles I read was called Gators among those fleeing Fay's Florida deluge by Brian Skoloff Associated Press Writer. The news article was about the recent storm (Fay) in Florida. The areas were the storm hit has alligators in most counties which really frightened residents. There were over 18,000 calls about the alligators in several neighborhoods. There were also snakes and other numerous harmful creatures and residents were really worried about them getting hurt. Rain water went up to more then two feet of rain which restricted a few residents from coming out of their homes. There were two deaths during the storm one of the people who was killed was a visitor. Official’s estimated damage up to $14.6million dollars. This type of storm has not been seen since Hurricane Donna in 1960, according to Daniel Brown, a specialist at the National Hurricane Center. Fay is the fourth storm in recorded history to hit the Florida peninsula with tropical storm intensity three separate times.

What I think about the news article:
The article was mostly about the storm that hit the peninsula of Florida. If I were in Florida at the time of the storm I would be very frightened. The alligators, snakes, and creatures would make me be afraid of even coming out of my house. I would immediately try to flea if I knew that a storm was coming whether it’s a big storm or a little storm because it can get very dangerous in this case the storm hit three times and it resulted in deaths of people. The storm was a big disaster estimated to cost up to $14.6 million in repairs. The storm was a disaster and i wouldn't know what to do if i were caught in that situation.

Elda Melendez

The article "Gators among those fleeing Fay's deluge" is about how the residents are in danger. There has been alligators, snakes and other critters from swampsy areas that have been spotted at residents houses. Many of the residents have to stay at home because of the critters. The storm has dumped more than two feet of rain along parts of Florida. Fay is the fourth storm recorded in history to hit Florida. Fay has been responsible for at least 20 deaths in the Carribean and 2 in Florida.

My feelings about this article is that i feel sad for the residents living there because they cant even walk outside their door without seeing an alligator or snake. If someone does get hurt by an alligator or snake it would be hard to get help because many of the streets would be flooded. I think that they should try to help them before this gets worse.

Meghan McLeod: News Article Response 1

Obama decided on a running mate for his campaign. When the reporters found out that he made a decision, he would not tell them who it is going to be. He might not have informed the person he wantes to run with him through his campaign. That could be the reason why he will not say who it is going to be. He is playing with the press and giving them as little information as possible. He wants to text only certain supporters on who it is going to be and not make a public announcement.

In my opinion he is acting in little ways childish. He is making comments like "Wouldn't you like to know?" to a press reporter. If he makes childish comments like that, what kind of comments is he going to make if he becomes president. Because the people do want to know what his decisions are going to be, because in the end what he decides effects all of us. If he was not going to make a general announcement of who his running mate is going to be then he should not have made the comment until he was prepared to say who it truely was going to be.

Response to AP news #1

The article I read was US, Iraq have draft to pull US troops out, in the article they were saying how Iraq and the United States have came to a preliminary agreement to take out American troops from Iraqi cities by next June, as in 2009. The Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met up with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari to talk about the troops withdraw. The war started in the year 2003 and it has been six years till then. The war never seems to end, and in fact it is making our economy worse by making bombs and missiles which come out of tax payers pockets. I really think, if they are going to pull troops out of Iraq they should do it slowly and not take everyone out at once, because it might cause a big commotion.

I like the people that work there because sometimes when the boss leaves we start to goof off and have fun. I have 5 best friends and we always have fun when were together. Once my friends turn 18 were all going to go clubing. my favorite snack is a peanut a honey sandwich. I have never heard of them until my sister made it one day. I love to eat food. Im a small girl but when i eat they get surprised at how much i can eat. My favorite sport is softball. My friends dont like playing with me because every time im up to bat i always end up hitting someone with the ball.

Nicholas Random Autobiography

I was born on July 28, 1989 in Houston, Texas. My dad named me after the one and only Nikki Sixx, from the great band Motley Crue. My hair metal loving dad that gave me this name, is truly the greatest friend a man could have. My uncle is the second parent I need going through life, I would not be half the man or half the size I am today with out him. My sister is my greatest friend and fan in life. My mother’s tubes needed to be tied 17 years ago. She has more kids than she can take care of.

I lost my four grandparents to young. I plan to take over my Uncle Harvey’s business one of these days. Ilove my family with all of my heart and I wouldn’t even consider trading them for all of the money in the world.

My best friends are many, and I am sure that they would do anything in the world for me, and they know that I would do the same. My job is way to stressful and I work too many hours, but it is money in my pocket. My hobby is to play football. It’s what I love to do most in life. The man that taught me the most about this sport is Coach JD. I wish that I could have one more practice with my coach JD, for just one last time.

My most prized possession is my 1977 Ford Pinto. I remember the morning of September 11, 2001, when my dad woke me up at 7 o’clock in the morning to watch the news with him. I really want to live my life like each day is my last, and to the fullest. I have truly only loved just one woman.

19 August 2008

I was born on the last day of February. My mother had post partum, so my grandma was my second mother. I’ve never had a brother growing up and my cousin filled that spot. My mother is my worst critic. I have felt that I always have to impress my mother. The girl I had my first kiss with, is the girl I’m still with today. My school took me to court over sports. I want to move to Ventura so I won’t have to travel an hour everyday to go to school. I want to make my family proud by becoming successful in life. Every year I plan to break some kind of bone. My best friends are the funniest people in the world!

When I need to relive some stress I pick up my snowboard and head to the mountain. Having fun and going on adventures is the most significant part of my life. I learned that I shouldn’t care what people think about me and just do what I desire. I learned that you should always be humble. My dad says a lot of things but never follows through with them. The snow is where I love to be. I hate when people make plans and flake. My mother is the most straight forward person you will ever meet. I realize that most people in high school are fake. Partying is something I do but I can live without it. I would rather just hang out with 15 of my close friends then go to a party.

Courtneys Random Autobiography

The hard working mother I have she gave me the gift of like that every mother has ever given to a child, and I love her to death. She gave me the gift of life in the summer of 1990. I was born in Monterey Park, California on August 8.

My siblings are a pain most of the time but I love them dearly. I love my family, friends, and everyone who made who I am today. I appreciate every little thing I have ever gotten.
My first kiss was amazing especially with the person I love, Nicholas; I couldn't have shared it with anyone else. I know for sure we have been through a lot together but we were there for each other every step of the way, an we are each others motivation. I also know there isn't a forever, but with him I really believe there is one.

My cousin Angela, we do everything together and are like best friends. We do everything from laughing together about the same things, picking out the same outfit without knowing it, doing crazy things, laughing at practically nothing all the time, just spending time with her makes me such a happier person then I already am.

My job working at a daycare is wonderful, it makes me happy and it is my passion. Watching the kids play with so much happiness makes me happy as well. Whenever I am sad, the children would make me laugh without even knowing it. Most of all they are the most innocent of everyone in the world. I know for sure I would not give up my job for a random different job.
I have never done anything to really make myself reminisce on it and regret upon. I plan to go to nursing school to become an Obstetrics and Gynecology RN nurse.

Meghan McLeod Random Autobiography

I was born a small baby Sunday evening. Being born a week before my dad's birthday, being a present he will cherish forever. He is always there for me when I need someone to talk to.

My mom and dad being there through all my medical problems I've had to face through my whole life. Always loving and conforting me so I never felt scared or alone in the hospital. Always being there to support me through good and bad times and never making me face them alone.

Two years after me, my brother was born. When he came home from the hospital he brought me a toy that I threw across the room because I didn't think I was going to like having him around. Finding out he is Autistic. But then growing up seeing everyday I love him and have a caring brother that loves me back and are closer then ever. I have never seen peers treat him for the kind person he is but treat him like dirt because he is different.

I plan to become an Elementary School teacher. Because my brother inspired me and taught me how caring and patient I can be. It showed me how much I love working with younger kids. They have a desire to learn and an adventure for life. They are so care free and lvoing just like my brother. I just hope that one day all my dreams will come true.

The day that I was born was July 8th 1989. It was a hot summer day.
Playing with barbies was my favorite past time, I dresses and undresses them all day. I I followed my dad everywhere he went. I wanted to be just like him. My father is such a hard working man. He has done so much for our family. I don’t know what I would do with out him. My mother is caring and loving she read to me. I love spending time with her. I love my mother and father. My first kiss was in Mexico. Every year I traveled to Mexico to visit my grand parents. My little cousins were there too. We had so much fun together we laughed and played all day. I like the tacos over there, there the best. My best friends are still my best friends four years later and we will still continue to be friends. I like hanging out with them and going places. School has changed and it’s different in a good way. It is not like high school, u have to be more independent.

April 18th,1990 was the day I was born. Raised in a small Southern California town, where negativity dwelled. My life has been like a roller coaster, nothing but up’s, and down’s. As a child in the fast lane, with no
time to play. All I have time for is to face the realities of everyday. Fifteen years of age full of hatred and rage. Broken with sorrow, hoping for tomorrow to be a better day. I’ve been loved, and I’ve been hate. I’ve been
betrayed, and I’ve been saved from depression. I’ve learned lesson after lesson, won fight after fight. I’ve learned there’s a brighter day after every dark night. I’ve learned to sometimes trust, I’ve learned to heel. With all life’s brought me I’ve learned to deal. All good and, all bad I accept. I forgive but never forget. From time to time I fell, but on the past I’ve learned never to dwell. I’ve learned to never run from any problem that may come.I’ve learned to be thankful for everything. I love to dream beyond my imagination. God is my savior. My family is my life, and music is my passion. My best friend is the one I love. Though my guidance
is up above, by God two angels I was given. By their strength and courage I was dramatically driven. I learned life isn’t perfect. The past will remain the same, but the feature we can change. Eighteen an young women I’ve became.

Random Autobiography by: Julie Estrada

I was born on August 2, 1990. I was born in Mexico Arcelia, Guerrero. As my mother searched for a better lifestyle I was brought by my grandmother to the United States when I was one month old. I was brought to have a better education and more opportunities to become someone successful.

I plan to one day become successful and happy with what I have. I hope to have a career that I am happy with and that I enjoy going to everyday.

Driving long hours in a car waiting to see faces I haven’t seen in a long time. I love it when all my family gets together and have fun without any fights. My mother is one of the best mothers anyone could ever ask for and she is the hardest working women. My siblings are very loving yet annoying. My grandmother is a very sweet and caring person. Aunts and uncles who are always there for me thru the good and the bad. Not knowing what I feel my little cousins try to cheer me up when down, I love them. I know for sure that my family is very unique and I love them very much.

I wish to one day go skydiving. I love the air going thru my face, the rush that goes thru my body as I ride roller coasters. Campfires at night BBQ’s in the afternoons and games later on. Climbing up mountains, Sweat running down my face, legs are tired, wanting to rest. I love the outdoors.

I’m a straight forward person. I’m as honest as I will get. My friends say I’m rude but I believe that an honest friend is a true friend. I have a best friend who always tries to make things right, and only makes them worse. I have a friend whom I love very much fighting in Iraq, and everyday I worry that something bad will happen, but if something does happen it will happen for a reason. Only God knows the purposes of life.

Trust and honesty is all I ask for in a friend, but I can only trust one person and that’s God. Everyday I thank God for all the good and the bad that he has put me thru because that has made me who I am today. I hope that when I pass away I get the privilege to rest in Gods kingdom.

Unexpected surprise; a GIRL1990 after New Year’s in Ventura raised in a small town with 3 other generations before me mom and grandma horses I rode but didn't get one t-ball fun with the stains; softball sliding in to base First love 5 years; Family through thick and thin Mom and Dad always there grandma; 93 years inspiration; very lucky, Brothers every where you look: 6 love them my best friend with red hair and freckles friends come and go I grew up quickly And leaned things happen for reasons life’s thrown at u memories went fast so did High school; ASB President a different sport every season; volleyball VC back row passer someone special now things changed better, different surroundings; driving my f:150, riding through mud; my Honda not red anymore, running through the dirt and grass hiding behind wood climbing trees; paint hitting you; stinging pain
I arrived on January 25th. Born in one
of the big popular gambling cities of Nevada. I have
seen Babies born, people die, people happy,
and people cry. I have loved those who
have loved me, and some who have
showed no sympathy. Growing up in a ruff
house hold and then adopted, I'm lucky to be who I am
and where I am in my life right now. Adopted
by my aunt and uncle. Mom And dad. August 7th
a remembered date of death. Standing at the casket
being held by my grandpa is what I remember
clearly of my uncle/dad's death.
One day i would like kids of my own.
Fear of death I have felt.
I fear the dark. For
I cant see, and what I do see seems to
be make believe.
My best friend is amazingly awesome,
never tears of sadness when with Dianna Medina.
Laughing until my tummy aches whenever with
my goofy friend Alashay Apodaca. Cracking jokes and
making others laugh as well as myself
making me feel great inside.
It also keeps my mind off of what makes me cry.
Siblings I have four.
My youngest brother is a
lot like me. He's what i consider my
other half. Grandma knows me better
than i know myself, she's wonderful.
Coming to college, I hope to make
new memories and start off with a clear,
set mind on things in my life. I've worked as a dancer
and serving pizza, not like that a
Chuck-E-Cheese employee.
I love being in love, some may c
all me a hopeless romantic. Boys
will be boys and girls will be girls, when
all is said and done I've always been played as
a fool. Relationships come and go, but I
will always be faithful. Every year I expect
to much. I have high expectations that just wait
to be crushed. Its expected. I wish I could
be more content with myself when it comes my
appearance. I have never bungee jumped
where my face hit's the air and I'm free falling.
Everyday I wonder what tomorrow
may bring me. I rather roam around to
place to place in life with my head high, then with fake
friends who keep my head always so low. My
life is pretty much an open book. I tell it like it
is if you just ask me what's up? But when all
is said and done I'm doing what I have to do to
succeed, while all my other friends just sit around
smoking weed. I'm not brilliant or the next Einstein,
I just know what I want in life and I'm going after it.
My mom has been with me through
thick and thin. She is my backbone to
life, she keeps me standing tall.
heart of an angel they say but she is my
angel everyday.
She's simply my EVERYTHING!!
